Someva Renewables is calling on businesses in the Murray and Riverina regions to submit expressions of interest to partner on the development of the company’s proposed Pottinger Energy Park project.
The 100% Australian-owned renewable energy company is seeking support from businesses that specialise in a range of services such as earthworks, construction, steelworks, concreting and fencing. Opportunities are also available for crane operators, electrical professionals and shuttle bus drivers.
The Pottinger Energy Park is located approximately 60-kilometres south of Hay and 110 kilometres north of Deniliquin, in the South West Renewable Energy Zone and would see renewable energy technology operate alongside existing agricultural practices. If approved, the development could generate up to 1,000 megawatts (MW) of clean, affordable and reliable energy from wind, solar and advanced batteries storage – enough to power up to 850,000 Australian homes.
Someva Renewables Development Director Tim Mead said the company was committed to working with local businesses on the development should it receive approval.
“The Pottinger Energy Park project has the potential to create up to 900 new jobs throughout construction and a further 80 full time jobs when it is operational, providing a significant boost to the local economy,” said Mr Mead.
“As an 100% Australian-owned and NSW-based business, Someva is committed to working with local suppliers on the development of the Pottinger Energy Park and delivering an economic boost to the region.”
“While construction is not scheduled to begin until 2026, the expression of interest process is an important chance for us to gauge the level of interest from local businesses on partnering with Someva on this important project. This in turn will assist us in developing a local procurement strategy aimed at generating as many local jobs as possible should Pottinger Energy Park be approved,” said Mr Mead.
Businesses can complete an expression of interest via the ICN Gateway portal and can contact Someva directly for more information via community@someva.com.au.
