Mainstream Renewable Power (“Mainstream”) and Someva Renewables (“Someva”), the renewable companies jointly awarded a permit to investigate a wind farm at Sunny Corner State Forest, have announced community consultation on the potential project will kick off in June.
As part of the initial community engagement, representatives from 100% Australian-owned Someva Renewables will host a public information booth at Portland Library. Someva will also be organising meetings with community organisations, local businesses, local councils, First Nations groups and local residents.
Someva Renewables’ public information booth at Portland Library will be open on:
• Wednesday 5 June – 3pm-6pm
• Thursday 6 June – 10am-3pm
• Tuesday 11 June and Wednesday 12 June – 10am-4pm
• Tuesday 18 June and Wednesday 19 June – 10am-4pm
• Tuesday 25 June and Wednesday 26 June – 10am-4pm
• Tuesday 2 July and Wednesday 3 July – 10am-4pm
• Tuesday 9 July and Wednesday 10 July – 10am-4pm
Someva Managing Director, Jamie Chivers said the public information booth at Portland Library was a great opportunity for locals to learn more about and contribute to the wind farm investigation process undertaken by Mainstream and Someva.
“We are looking forward to connecting with local residents, First Nations people, forestry users and local interest groups to get to know them and hear their views. This initial community consultation is designed to provide locals an opportunity to learn more about the investigative process underway and to ensure the community’s feedback is incorporated into this exciting opportunity from the outset.”
“As part of our community co-design process, we are committed to working collaboratively with the community at all times. This includes in the scoping and design of the project, the creation of tailored community benefits funds and in supporting local job and procurement opportunities.”
“Please get in touch with us if you’d like to learn more and I’d encourage all locals to visit our information booth in Portland over the coming weeks,” said Mr Chivers.
